The Alien Special Rules state:
"If an Alien Queen ever takes damage, she can be immediately replaced with a Warrior Queen card, if the Aliens Player possesses one (he/she is allowed to search their deck and discards with no penalty; shuffle deck). "
And furthermore...
"Note: When an injured Queen matures into a different type of Queen, all of the damage on the original Queen disappears."
My question is this: If an attack deals enough damage to reduce the Alien Queen to Power 0, is that Alien Queen immediately killed, or does the Alien player still have the opportunity to replace the card with a Warrior Queen? Logically, I would think you cannot replace a dead Character with another card unless a card effect says you can. I would also make the distinction between "is killed" and "takes any damage" but I'd like others' take on this.

Also don't forget the, 'Egg Sack Detachment' card is needed as well.
As for your question, I would say if a Character's Power is 0, it is dead and it can't be replaced, (unless you use, 'The Will To Live' card), but, if it only takes damage it can be changed out.

IIRC, Egg Sack Detachment is to mature prematurely without having to take damage and is not needed for a damage-triggered maturation.
I'd say the Queen needs to survive the hit, so it would not be able to mature. This is my personal interpretation and not anything I've dug up a ruling on.

Thanks for the input guys. It makes sense so its what I'll go with.
Finally had my first game last week and absolutely loved it. Had a handful of cards back in '98 but never enough to actually play. Did some Ebay hunting during lockdown and managed to nab 3 each of the starter decks as well as 2 joblots including a decent amount of Resurrection cards.
Played Conquest and managed to evacuate 3 civvies before succumbing to the Alien Hive. Had an absolute blast though and eager to have a rematch. Already thinking of a custom Marine deck.

Both Axlotl and doctordolemite are correct.
During damage resolution, if sufficient damage is dealt to an Alien Queen which would reduce her Power to 0 or 7 damage tokens as her Power is 7, then she is dead, you would not be able to mature her into a Warrior Queen.
As for bringing her back to life with The Will To Live, that is possible immediately after damage resolution, as you'd have to play it right after damage resolution when a character had been determined to be killed.
The Alien Queen is then revived with 1 Power remaining meaning she has 6 damage tokens on her and since she has taken damage and been revived, you may mature her into a Warrior Queen from your hand, discard pile or deck. However, do remember that The Will To Live requires 3 Combat Pool to play.
Egg Sack Detachment allows you to bring the Warrior Queen into play without the hassle of waiting for her to sustain non-lethal damage first from damage resolution.
However, to use Egg Sack Detachment you MUST have the Warrior Queen card in your hand first. Unlike the normal situation when the Alien Queen takes non-lethal damage, where you can switch her out with a Warrior Queen card from your hand, deck or discard pile.
