I've been working on a video game, and am potentially drawing close to entering some sort of alpha level development. I will be looking for final or semi-final art assets to add to the game in a few months or so, so if anyone here is an artist we can talk. Not sure if/how much I want to work remotely with people, but it can't hurt to talk a bit. Even just a few pieces might be fine.
My game is a rogue-lite RPG, in the vein of FTL and Slay the Spire combined with a bit of Pokemon. You travel around a mostly linear node based map with randomized events and encounters in a post-apocalyptic setting a bit reminiscent of Fallout, tonally, assembling a team of robots on your quest to defeat rival champions and claim a disputed prize for your settlement.
I'm getting close to having all the major features implemented, so once I get that ready, focus will shift onto building the actual game up - creating events, attacks, items, maps, and machines.
I'm eyeing some sort of Steam release eventually, so this is a paying project. We'd have to negotiate and figure things out in that regards, once development is further along. I'm eyeing a price point similar to other indie level titles, maybe 10-20 bucks when finished, less if/when I do early access.
I work on my own timetable and have no intention of changing that, so while I expect things to get serious in a few months, that could get pushed back further. There is always a chance things never get that far, but I'm feeling optimistic and invested so I don't see myself dropping this project at this point. I'm also looking for artists elsewhere, and will take whoever's style works best. if you are interested and don't get in, no hard feelings intended.
I am open to suggestions on art styles, but what I am looking for right now is pixel-art style battle sprites for the bots, think older pokemon game style, and hand-drawn character art for events. I also need simple black pixel art or hand drawn map icons for the game maps - the game world is abstracted as a literal map on a piece of parchment outside of battles and events. Right now I am creating black pixel-art map icons, but these could be upgraded to being hand drawn in black. I also probably want landscapes for backgrounds in battle and events, but this is less of a concern. There could be as few as ~10 landscape images in the entire game with recycling based on zones.
Just be aware that I have no real timetable for completion or release, like I said, I work at my own pace. This means it might take a while for the project to complete.
