Hey it's been awhile everyone. How has everybody been so far?
I've been quite caught up with life matters and been real busy so I hadn't really had the time to go back and make a commitment to Aliens Predator CCG and Terminator CCG.
However I think most if not all of you are aware by now that a completely new card game using Deck Building Game format has been made and released for both Alien and Predator from Upper Deck Entertainment.
I think we really could use a section here at the Access Space Forums and website entirely dedicated to both Legendary Encounters card games (Alien and Predator), and then just maybe we can try and heavily promote or even advertise it.
To me this new Card game using the Alien and Predator licenses is great since the whole original Collectible and Trading elements and concepts in card games never really worked well and Especially for ANY card game based on Sci-Fi franchises like Alien or Predator.
Ok, maybe it worked well or kind of ok for the much more Bigger Sci-Fi Franchise Fanbases and Communities like that of Star Wars, Stargate or Star Trek but I say it's definitely a Big NO NO when it comes to the Alien and Predator fanbases and communities, and even less when it comes to for Terminator.
I personally hated the whole concept of well you gotta keep buying booster packs and various starter decks to get those really rare and powerful cards you really need to make a good playable competitive deck.
And then sometimes you just have to sign up for these damn tournaments all just to try and win even more rarely released and powerful cards which are like exclusive Promotional cards.
Anyone remember Battle Standard for AvP CCG? I'm pretty sure that was only available as a really limited release since it was a Tournament Grand Prize card or something.
You all feel and get me so far? Got tired enough of that rarity format BS they use in almost every other card game out there?
Well you don't have to worry about that any more!
Because this time around these Legendary Encounters card games work right out of the box! That's right, no extra booster packs needed, at least so far no expansion booster had been released yet, not that I think they'd really matter anyway. It's similar to the LCG "Living Card Game" concept that had been created and released by Fantasy Flight Games if I recalled correctly. The way things really should have been for AvP card games to begin with, but that's just me.
Both Legendary Encounters: Alien and Legendary Encounters: Predator cost a flat rate of 60 bucks in USD which when compared to getting all the good and rare stuff for AvP and Terminator CCG is that much more cost-effective, and you just might find them for cheaper from some private dealers.
Best of all both Legendary Encounters support Co-operative and Competitive modes. Whereas the older AvP and Terminator Card games didn't really have any type of actual Cooperative gameplay. Well, not officially, although I suppose it might be possible through some customizable scenario, but never officially supported.
Speaking of Customizable Scenarios, such a feature is back and possible in both of the current Legendary Encounters.
And don't worry, because of the customizable scenarios support it is possible to use card from both Legendary Encounters Deck Building Games interchangeably since they are completely compatible with each other.
Now I could really only hope that Upper Deck will consider getting hold of the licenses for The Terminator franchise and create a Legendary Encounters: Terminator, at least with content based on the first 2 films. Currently LE: Predator contains only content based on the first two films whereas LE: Alien has content from all 4 of their films.
And No I'm not blaming Precedence or ZI Games or HarperPrism or anything for the way AvP and Terminator CCGs had been designed like traditional trading/collectible card games, sorry if you misunderstood me there for a second and took it the wrong way.
