So you may have noticed a distinct lack of card projects the last few years. This is in part because of more college, and in part because of a shift in my creative outlet to music (depending on your definition of music, lol). Darkness Fell (name still subject to change in the event of me needing to care about what I call the project for one reason or another) is my dark electronic/industrial music project. I'm still new to this, so some of the material is a bit rough, more so as you go back in time the last 2 years. I got inspired a bit by some local people, and just started tinkering with some programs, figuring out how do do all this on my own. So here is the link: soundcloud.com/darkness-fellIf Electronic/Industrial is your thing let me know what you think. Downloads are enabled on all tracks.

Before you read on any further I want you to know that I am in no way shape or form a music connoisseur nor am I going out of my way to criticize you. I am a big fan of your work on this forum and I find you to be inspirational; and the following text is strictly opinion. Before I begin, I want to say that I followed the industrial scene for a long time including Ministry, Pigface, KMFDM, Prick, Pop Will Eat Itself, 12 Rounds, Nine Inch Nails, ETC. I gave your playlist a listen through and let me just first say, that as a solo act I am very impressed. Your first track really pumped me up, it was very reminiscent to Trent Reznor's Quake soundtrack. If you have never listened to it, I think you should, as I think it can be very inspirational towards an instrumental industrial album, based on that track and the rest of your playlist. That being said, the rest of the tracks are a little too repetitious for my taste. I know it is an industrial album, and there are lots of opportunities for repetition; however, the repetition without subtle, whether apparent or not (I did not pick upon them) variation, needs to be a factor in the songs. I would suggest listening to some Throbbing Gristle or Einstürzende Neubauten to see what I mean. This could perhaps try some ideas on variation in your melodies as (in my opinion) they appear at the moment to be very drum machine oriented. I can hear that you have sampled them. It's hard to explain in text, but see if you can see some of their live shows. They are very active in making their sound a variable. Please, please, please, take this as no disrespect, I love what you do and I don't want you to be discouraged. This is only my opinion.

Of course I take no offense. I appreciate the feedback - exactly what I'm looking for. The repetitiveness of some is in part from aborted attempts at lyrics, and other times because a lot of what I was trying at the time with that track was still new to me. My page chronicles pretty much all my work since I started a few years ago, so things do get a lot worse the further back you go. The tracks i post aren't things that I think are excellent, they are things that I think have promise in some way, even if certain parts are a bit rough.
Very little of what is there is something I'd even think about putting on an album. Still in the tinkering phase.
Its really only recently that I've churned out anything I can listen to and actually think is good. In particular, Azathoth. I've been tinkering with the mix and some effects still on Azathoth, which is really the first time a piece has intrigued me enough to return to it. Tinkering with some lyrical content for the track also.
I have the Quake soundtrack - I definitely see what you mean about the similarity.
I need to track down some good string samples and play around with those.
I can't actually play any instruments at all so everything is samples.
