Seems solid. But I have a few apprehensions with this movie.
One thing that bothers me is the talk of space jockey's having a hand in the origin of the human race, if its 2001 style, like they added a few genes to an australopithecus at some point, then fine, but if its something goofy like creating humans from scratch then dumping then on Earth it'll piss me off.
I'm also concerned with the design of the jockeys, there is something standing by the jockey seat when it rises out of the ground and it looks disappointingly human.

I agree that it will be dissapointing if they go that route. It's definitely thought provoking though. Ridley Scott was quoted as saying "the film will be really tough, really nasty. It's the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?"

I think it's kind of both, biological weapons designed to clean up a planet kind of like a "neutron" bomb, kill enemy hostiles but leave everything else intact.
The best part is we will finally get to hear the story regarding that Space Jockey extraterrestrial creature.
If it's biology that would go in and clean up a planet it almost sounds like there is some environmental awareness message here.
Had anyone ever seen "The Day The Earth Stood Still" (The Newer Version)?
It's kind of like how Keanu Reeves's character (Klattu) quoted this as a warning to humans If the Earth dies, you die. If you die, the Earth survives. There are only a handful of planets in the cosmos that are capable of supporting complex life... or something along the lines like that, or am I seeing something wrong.
Btw, any of you guys ever read the Aliens comics Apocalypse The Destroying Angels?
I think it may be similar. It was some interesting back story and more details regarding the relationship between the Space Jockey and Aliens. Although in that comic it indicated that both of these creatures did not originate from the same planet or source.

Environmental awareness? That would be shocking if they tried to pull off a social commentary for this film. It might work, but I doubt it.
Anyways, I have been eagerly awaiting this film for almost 10 years, and I am excited Ridley Scott is returning to the franchise. However, the fact that he has never made a bad film [in comparison to his others, such as Blade Runner, Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, Legend (actually, that might be the the one film he didn't do so well on, despite the Tangerine Dream score), etc...] makes me wonder if this will be his first relatively bad film...
The trailer did concern me, but only because I was wondering what the heck was going on. Then again, the trailer to the original "Alien" uses the same tactic, but I think Alien used it more effectively than Prometheus. Oh well, I'm expecting the best, but preparing for the worst.
