Greetings peeplys! Now, im not sure if this counts (sort of does) but me and a freind have been working on a mod for HL2 for sometime now, called Toxis Residuum. The reason i place this here is A) to get a little bit of support, and B) we based the marines in our mod PURLY off colonial marines, we adored camerons desighn and thought they were the true marines of the future. to start with, here it is: www.moddb.com/mods/toxisresiduumNow, this mod is basicaly desighned round all of our favourite films, The Marines in the storyline as i said, were based of camerons colonial marine. Mostly rapid responce teams (they dont have alot in the way of tanks, and other heavy machinery) they are desighned to go in, do the job and get out, very cut and paste. The city is based round Blade Runner, the gothic/cyberpunk look ive adored sinse i was a child (infact cyberpunk IN GENERAL ive adored sinse i was a kid...), and then we wanted to take the society to the next level, so, in true cyberpunk fassion, we have a city full of surpressed, spoon fed, ignorant (infact what you'd find in a city nowadays tbh..) idiots, beleiving everything they are told, which is where my 3 marines enter, the anti heros of our story (i have supplied character bios on the site, and if youd like to see some of there script let me know). We were also BIG fans of the HL2 beta (and I for one feel bitter about HL2 being butchered into what it is now...) so the wasteland was desighned off the one from the hl2 beta, no ocean, everything dried up and is basicaly a horrible, mutant, desert landscape, twisted by years of pollution, nukes experiments the lot. I would like to see what people think as IM DESPERATELY trying to get this noticed...I'm sick of the games that get released now, none of them are fun, or invovled there all just trying to be each other, we wanna give the gamer somin a little differnt, somin there not used to (however dew to bioshock comming out alot of people slated the mod saying we had ripped them off...dew to the drugs that are gonna be in my mod and the hacking, even though once again drugs were based off who I AM and the hacking thing was thanks to avp but ya know whatever ¬_¬). if you would like to here or read more then please visit the site if you'd like to know more then ask me, or maybe youd like to join either way I hope you like what you see and would like to play it (if ever we can get it off the ground..)

....O.O are you sure you wanna here this man? to me it completely changed it for me enough so i can't play it anymore....ask yourself this question, do you want to know? lol
However...i like tlaking about it so here goes ^^
Ok first off, city 17 used to be a technological terror. the walls would literaly eat away at the city and convert it to new combine tech, the citadel used to be a HUGE cyberpunk looking structure (tbh the entire combine were one cyberpunk with a much more evil edge). Kids existed, and were basicaly slaves...all of city 17 were slaves on a much grander scale than that of retail, they were cut eventualy dew to european laws ¬_¬ (same as fallout 1 and 2).
The world was COMPLETELY differnt, no sun, just smog, mass amounts of green smog engulfing the sky, pumped out by a massive power station called "The Air-Exchange" (an area cut from final release, baed round the atsmosphere prosesor from aliens). the wasteland was a dried up desert with no life, oceans had gone (depending on what story they went by, the ocean was either drained away by a teleport, pumping it offworld, or simply as coolant for the airex), civis had to ware gasmasks everywhere (there original look was a green suit with gasmask, with a CITY 17 badge on there back).
Another thing that got cut, were the conscript marines. A great bunch of people basicaly used as glorified security guards that eventualy would help freeman, vance was there leader, however bak THEN, he was differnt. if youve played cs source, his facial skin still exsist, as the old man hostage, same as SAMUAL, the oriental looking dude, he was original the players guide to hl2, explaing about what happened between 1 and 2 (on a train journey to city 17, much like hl1s intro, and you saw a gargantua get cut in half by a razor train). also kleiner used to be called Chort, and his facial skin exsist once again in cs (the old guy with the glasses). THE MOST NOTABLE cut though, was a conscript marine called, Animal, based PURLY round hudson, his only script ever recorded was:
THIS SUCKS IM GOING FORIT!! YOUR ALL A BUNCH OF girl thingyS!!! YOU WANT ME!? YOU WANT SOME OF THIS!? GET IT, GET IT!!!!!!
The original journey, took you from the train, to city 17, where you were introduced to a much darker version, the further in you went, the more technological it became. Freeman would then find, the manhack arcade. An arcade for children and adults to play what they thought were games. turned out they were controlling those little buzzer things the metro cops have in retail? the spinning blade enemies? yeah..you used ot go into an arcade...jump on one of those machine...and actualy play as a manhack. from there barney would take you to kleiners old lab (based underground in the sewers, where the player would fight the HYDRA, a cut enemy) from here he went through city 17 a bit more, finaly to the canals, that were FAR DIFFERNT, dew to you had a jetski instead...apprently it made beta testers throw up (What sort of girl thingys do we have playing games nowa days...). the player would then meet alyx, original white, with deep RED hair, wareing a black sneeking suit (sorta like solidsnake esc) and a grreen wastejacket. she would then take you to Dr. Maxwell (Dr vances old character) who would give you the PHYSICS gun, not the grav gun (the physics gun made it so you could pick up ANY object no matter its weight, suspended on a blue beam. you could then weld it to other objects, walls what, ergo, you could make your own traps...). from here you went to TRAP TOWN, what was eventualy to become ravenholm....much longer than ravenholm, WAY more puzzles, also combine were there (you enter a few days after the combine have stormed the place and zombified everyone). from here, down into the mines...WHERE YOU GOTR TO USE A FUCKING DIGGER!! thats right, a digger, with big massive diggie blades to cut people up...from here, to the ant lion caves, now...here on in the story split 2 ways. you have the first story, of airex. the airex was built by humanity before the combine invaded to solve the worlds power, when combine invaded, they turned it into a atmosphere exchange, pumping thre own chemicals into the air so they could breath. freeman destroys this, hops down to a the docks nereby and catches a tug boat to the Hyperboria (which became the boreialis). the other story is the same sorta coastal run from retail (only twice as long and much more todo) which brought you out to the BETA NOVA PROSSPEKT, original modeled on alcatraz (so it was basicaly a prison on an island in the middile of the ocean) here you would assault it with ant lions obviously) and destroy a gunship repair bay loacated behind it. the story gets sketchy there as there were to many split off points then, but eventualy you endedu p at the hyperboria. freeman would navigaate the ship, trying to put out fires as he went along (thats right you got a fire extinguisher) as the combine are sinking it while your onit. now once again, the hyperboria had 2 storylines. 1, it was a boat that made round trips from the docks to the weather controll station (ill get onto that in a sec) the other, was it was a ice locked ice breaker, sort of a combine outpost/secret rebel base, either way the civis onboard get owned before freeman gets there, story one was by a cut enemy called a sack tick, the other was but stalkers (that used to look alot sicker). story 1, freeman gets down to kraken base via a tunnel in the ice, story 2 freeman caught a sub from the hyperboria to kraken. kraken was a customized rebel base made under the ice, planing to launch assaults on the weather controll station. freeman teams up with the conscript marines, assaults the place (which was the beta for the strider battle in ep 2, youd have to fight tones round the area in the same method, only with a cut wepaon called the hopwire. the hop wire was a little nade you through, it would hop into the air and fire out gooey tendrils, if an enemy walked through it, BOOM! so the objective was to make striders walk through them.) Alyx is hurt in this fight, so you destroy the place and catch a plane to city 17. here you crashed into a sky scraper, the second largest building in city 17 (next to the citadel) and progress down. story once again splits here, story one, alyx dies here, story 2, alyx lives, though wounded, and is captured by the combine. Either way you make you way down the skyscraper, named VERTIGO (the rebels are useing it as a stock pile for weapon cashes). and then..the fun began...
The city 17 riots. imagine every civilian, every conscipt marine EVERY OMBINE in a fight and it was there. there were fists fights in the street, concript marines doin victory dances, some AMAZING dialog happened here...so you come down vertigo, make you way along the rooftops, helping conscript marines. evenual comming down to the streets below, where you met animal and his team, peters, sarge and manwich.
pinned down by snipers, you had to defeat predator like enemies (thats right, active camoflague that was the best looking to date...AND VALE DIDNT USE IT!!! oh well...technicaly they did, in ep 1, its the coreballs texture but looked differnt back then..looekd amazing...). from here we went to Vances HQ, where the old SYNTHS made en entrance (the big thingsy u see walking on the conveyour belts in the citadel in retail), vance dies here and begs you to save alyx, who are you to refuse this...so you hope onto the streets, make a mad dash with conscript marines to a bridge, where a very nice cutscene showing off the true power of a hydra took place, basicaly the bridge was packed with combine and the marines are thinking.....fyuck...but, the bridge is based round the citadels coolant rivvers....and hydras are in them, so they start attacking the combine, you make a mad dash down to the rivers, get on a jetski, get into the ctiadel via pipes, fight ya way up, fight agasint the ORIGINAL leader of city 17, the consul (russian dictator like guy, real nastie peice of work, AMAZING script...). saved the day, saved alyx, combine were beaten in city 17, waiting for freeman to go onto another city.....
sadly none of this was ment to be, as valve thought...a dark, cyberpunk horror thriller wouldn't make money, thousands of people on the net saw it though as it was leaked YEARS prior to release (which is how i know about it) and we were hurt.....
CUT ENEMIES:
The cremator: This guy was basicaly a janitor of city 17, burning up rubbish, mess...bodies, with a plasma burning wepaon (that yu got to use) called the incinerator. he stood at 8 foot tall, doned in a green leather jacked, with a very strange dome like head. his body underneath consisted of humanbody parts bonded togeather, then the head (a parasite) would be grafted onto it (by children). Made for you humans, by humans, from humans....
The Female Assasin: Basialy ca streamlined version fo the white combine elite we know today. this bitch would backflip, karate kick and pistol her way through you. nastie peice of work.
Male assasin/The Prowler: A silent terror, this guy used to stalk freeman alot. useing knives from his back pack, there wasnt anywhre freeman couldnt hide from him. he used to stalk you out, look under things, nock things over ALL to find you. His script was eventualy taken and became part of the FAST ZOMBIE script. original the fast zombie was..just fast, and ran round slashing at you, the whole jumping roof tops thing, climing up walls and the run, came from the prowler.
Synth: These things would charge at you, fire a gatling gun built into its abdonmaon and such, nastie, can be seen in conveyour belts in citadel in retail.
Mortar synths: these things used to look like flying prawns, that would mortar the energy ball the irifle fires in retail.
Wasteland Scanner: a big, orange floating eye, these things would make constant bombing runs on freeman, alert enemies to his location. and if that wasnt enough, if 1, or 2 others were in its vasinity, they would link up, grow in size and make continual bombing runs on freeman. the ai was astonishing tbh...
The Hydra: A large, blue, seethrough glowing snake, this thing would pop out of water, continalu dodge attacks and spear freeman, you wernt ment to fight em, you were ment to run.... the script was a bit flawed though and instead of perfecting it, they simply cut it, a decision the man who created it was not to impressed about...
sand barnicles. barnicles in the sand that would snare freeman as he was walking along what was left of the ocean floors.
Combine Guard: The original combbine elite, this guy look like something from quake 2. armed with a strider cannon (that was originaly based on the living opforce gun) it would shoot at freeman, run out of ammo, then simply run flat out and pound him till he was dead. they nocked down doors, smashed through walls ANYTHING to get to you.
Combine elite mk1: kind of like...a mini bipedal strider, this thing was to stalk you in the city 17 riots, jumping over or through buildings
The Sack Tick: originaly, these things were fired at the hyperboria. that would attacht themselvbes to people, vibrate at high speeds and basicaly fry the person.
Combine SNiper: originaly located in the wasteland and city 17 riots, these guys were combine soldiers in guille suits, with active camo like the preditor. the only way to spot them, was from glowing orange eyes and a glint from there sniper rifle.
Ichyosuar: these things made a comback. on the second story (when earth still had ocean and a coastal run) these things would eat the antlions that fell into the water....or you, instead of crappy leeches...
Shield Scanner: in retail, there is something called the CITY SCANNER. you can see it dropping hopmines on your from abouve. now originaly, these were called shield scanners, and operated round industrial sectors. the front would flip open, revealing a large tenticle that would attack you, if you look in model viewer at its animations, you can stil see it to this day (although in game it doesn't have that function activated)
CUT WEAPONS: Stun baton Binoculars (Why does freemans suit have a zoom when he has no helmet? these things were ment to put that to pay...but were cut becuase valve said they made no snse...umm...how can you zoom valve with no helmet?) OICW AK 47 MP5 and 7 STINGER missile laucnher (you used to zoom into the rockets and controll them) Tau Cannon Physics gun Flare Gun Ice Axe Incinerator Molotov hopwire sniper rifle fire extinguisher Cremator head (it would explode into green gas blinding the enemy) Headcrab (thats right, instead of snarks, hl2 beta had headcrabs) Combine Guard Gun
Now i know i have STILL missed alot out here.....i mean i have every map cut and i can tell you it was gonna be aHUGE game. and no matter what valve tell you, about time constraints and such, it aint true, they made these cuts and changed the entire game LONG before they were having timeing issues.Some things got cut for legal reasons (like the children) but most of the game was changed so valve could make money, nothing more. hense why we have ep 1 2 and now waiting (YET ANOTHER YEAR) for 3. whereas i could have had something that was on par with neuromancer in my eyes....this is why im bitter about it....

Sounds intriguing, although I don't have HL2 to be able to play it. Let me know if you ever need a writer, composer, or voice actor for any projects like this, as I do all three (semi-professionally in one case).
