Yeah, I heard this on AVPGalaxy a few days ago. Meh. Prequel probably has a better chance of being good.
But.
It'll still probably suck.

As long as they keep Ripley out of it, it has a chance. Something along the lines of Steel Egg.
Or hell, even if they went with Michael Jan Friedman's idea of the secret society that was working with the Space Jockeys.
Just for God's sake Fox, don't try to come up with anything original. You'll only sprain yourself, and make the fans unhappy.

Revealing the mysterious Space-Jockey would be a bad idea.
A movie/series needs to reveal something in every film to keep us intrigued and entertained, but it needs to keep mystery for the exact same reason.
And don't put Ripley in it. She's a great character, but she died in #3. Let her rest in peace.
I think their best bet is to show us a story where Weyland-Yutani had a previous encounter with an Alien/Aliens somewhere previous to the first film, and let us in on how much they actually know about the "Xenomorph" when they had Ash pick it up in the first film.
