That would be a good idea. It would probably boost overall sales, because of people like me that don't want to spend money on the stuff they don't want. They would lose a little bit of their sales from people that were already buying stuff they didn't want, but in the long run I think it would be a good move for them.

Been making some AVP cards for FK. The 3rd one is a card-type that doesn't exist. the templates my creation, as are the Location rules.

Those look awesome. You should really pass those along to Decipher. The kind of straights they've been in the past few years, they could really use someone of your inherent CCG genius working for them.

Maybe they'll start hiring if FK works out for them, but right now, they're kind of holding on by a thread, it sounds like. The entire company is down to 7 employees, i think.

It makes me sad, because they made a lot of my favorite CCGs back in the day. I wish I felt the need to support Fight Klub, but between the fact that it cuts out stores, which affects me, and it has a bunch of stuff I just don't care about, I just can't justify the expenditure at this point. Its a great concept, though, and I hope it does well enough for them that they could get to a point where they could draw me in.

Sad how a great company can be nearly destroyed by one greedy bastard embezzling from them.

Hey, mrdomino, good news. Decipher's going to add a package deal to their site store, meant for game stores who want to stock the game. The site will no longer be the only way to get the game.
Introducing the Retail Package You asked for it but Decipher went one better. Cast your mind back to a few months ago when Decipher asked for some suggestions on what the game needed. A strong opinion that was put forth was that we needed something tangible in stores for retailers to sell. We suggested that perhaps Decipher released a starter deck for every few sets, that way people could get started in store and purchase more cards online later. It looks like Decipher decided to go one better and release an entire package to stores. Its called the retail package and it will be available very soon on the online store for retailers to purchase at a wholesale price. For USD $299 plus $20 Shipping and if you want it $20 Insurance it will contain 12 Kilos of ONE, 8 Kilos of TWO, two sets of Black Beauty TWO and all the energy stones required for each Kilo of ONE. This gives retailers a sizable quantity of stock for minimum outlay and is phenomenal value for money. This retail package is perfect for holding in store tournaments and events.
As this newsletter was being finalised, we have heard that there will be two versions of retail packs available, due for release along with THREE. The first, “Retail Pack 1&2”, will have the Kilos from ONE and TWO. The second, “Retail Pack 3”, will contain set THREE items. There will also be a “starter” download and poster downloads made available at the same time. The store will be updated shortly beforehand so that they can take orders so keep an eye out!
I'd like to add that, those kilos in the bulk package are around half-priced compared to buying them one at a time, like right now. It strikes me that I might be able to get Kilos cheaper at a brick-and-mortar store as opposed to the online store once this hits. Everyone wins.

Yeah, that's definitely something I'll be looking into for my store. Unfortunately, CCG's as a whole have just been doing terribly lately. The last one that did anything at all was Kingdom Hearts, and Fantasy Flight ruined that one by waiting 8 months between expansions.

I really wish they would hurry up and get those starter deck pdfs ready. I'd like to demo the game some around my shop to drum up some interest to make it worth getting the retail kit in, but the shopowner's not gonna just stock it cold turkey. Too many good games have come along in the past and failed for him to do that.
EDIT: Just went through most of their 'voting' thing, and noticed that Predator and Cpl. Dwayne Hicks have been added to it, if they weren't there to begin with.
Also, River Tam's picture is actually a picture of Cameron from TSCC. Heh.

Its my understanding that the starter deck PDFs are due for release shortly before set "Three" goes on sale. Three hits on the 21st, if I remember correctly.

The new set released, and is excellent, much better than the first 2 sets. D is working out new stuff to get game shops involved also. The retail packages are now for sale in the shop, also. Lots of great Terminator cards. They even snuck a John Connor character card by everyone, he's a Partner card that the T-800 or upcoming Sarah Connor can use. The next sets been announced as having Sarah Connor in it as a character, as well as the movies Rocky, Cyborg, Dune, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. The games in great shape, game-play wise. Terminator themed Starter demo decks: www.decipher.com/system/assets/432/original/FightKlubStarters.zip

Ok. Terminator-themed starters that I can demo for people, plus Paul Atreides (presumably) in the next set means I can definitely start pushing this game locally now. I'll make a printout of the Terminator decks and start talking to the local gaming population.

though i have never played FK, its not that appealing to me, when i think of Decipher, i think of their previous incarnation (SW & ST CCG, 1st editions), after that they went way downhill. I still hold out hope for Decipher though, since they make great card games in general.
one major bummer though, Decipher completely changed its website to contain only FK information, there used to be an entire database of every card, rules supplements, & downloads for all of their games. this shift to just one amalgamation 'Fight Klub' is an attempt to pool all of their profit into one game, though that may just be my suspicions.
i know its just my opinion, but i think themed design makes for the most important part of a CCG (like your Jurassic Park CCG Axlotl), dynamics, the way the cards balance & counterbalnace each other, giving each side their own advantages & style of play. (now obviously this is the same in FK, but its just not my style i guess). [shrugs]
EDIT: you know, i never knew Decipher was down to 7 employees, if anyone, Axlotl i could see you getting hired, i like the Aliens cards you made. with your mention of movie themed decks i might have to retract my previous statements.

Fk is not without its issues. I have commented on the decipher site about how the abstractness of game play detracts from the games appeal. The rules system doesn't do a very good job conveying the differences between characters, but it is a fun game.
I think a game based around different movie characters fighting each other is a great idea IF you can nail the flavor correctly. Its got to be cinematic and action packed.
Part of the reason for the multi-license approach is that decipher has been a bit burned by licensed games. The loss of the Star Wars license was a big blow for them. By doing a multi-license game, the game doesn't have to die when a license becomes unavailable. Prior to FK, Decipher pretty much had no profits, the company nearly died. The ideas more to try and break out of the standard mold of CCGs to get ahead, when they don't have the manpower or assets for a traditional approach.
Anyways, the games pretty much on hiatus, or dead. The growth was no where near what was expected, and nothing has been said about set FOUR in 10 months. Its a downward spiral, no new product makes it harder to draw in new players. Its a shame, there isn't really anything decent other than MTG anymore in the CCG market.

its the sign of the current times, folks play more video games & watch tv than play board/ card games. Even the high & mighty MTG is trying to push their players to MTGO (online) instead of printing cards. MTGO is the biggest mistake made by WOTC, not only does it cost just as much as the real thing, but they only sell limited numbers of virtual product (making prices jump with the high influx of new players, & perpetuating the problems of out of print product becoming increasingly more rare & expensive).
My hope is that Wizards puts all of its chips into MTGO, then they have a major server crash, & everybody loses their accounts (say goodbye to millions of dollars worth of virtual cards & accounts). The end result would leave a power vacuum, hopefully allowing a new, fresh, deep, dynamic CCG to enter the field, ushering in a new age of great CCG to rival those of the past... (hey, i can dream can't i?)
