Hey everyone, I have recently started getting back into the AvP game, and saw that there are now a lot of community made expansions which look really good. I made the mistake of ditching my entire collection of cards about 20 years ago... I had a load of premiere but never got the expansion. I would like to have cards to print and play so started trying to make some new templates based on the AvP layout which I think is a bit cleaner (the Premiere card design always struck me as particularly terrible). Using these templates, I have made a few cards of each type so far, just to test things out. It looks like there is some errata for cards I have seen in a few places in the forum, is there a link to a consolidated file of changes somewhere? I figure I should make sure that this is included as I go (rather than make a card with out-of-date game text). Appreciate any feedback on my design attempts! (Had to shrink these files down a little so not sure how they will come up...) Thanks, Rob

Thanks Axlotl,
The backgrounds gave me some grief, I looked for something thematic relating to the character type, i think maybe this could be something to visually distinguish the factions as well (so Marines might have the Colonial Marine background, and Corporate has something different, but the frames are the same). I made the Predator background from scratch in the end (lots of fun playing around in GIMP trying different things!)
Thank you for the errata thread link, I will go through and maybe start with cards of a specific type. I will see if I can set up a google drive with images and link it, in case they are of use to anyone,
Cheers, Rob

Hey all,
I have been working through rebuilding cards (agonizingly slowly), the process might speed up a bit once I have created a template for everything, though some of these still need a bit of work...
I have put things into a Google drive for people to look at too if they want:
I have started with Marine characters and items (and playing about with a Full Art template as well), and am also trying to tidy up some of the game text inconsistencies and include errata where I can find it. There is a folder with templates I have been using in GIMP, and I have uploaded other assets like pattern fills and fonts.
Getting images for things is difficult at times so I have sometimes tried to sharpen the original image, in most cases I have just used something new instead.
Hope these might be of use to someone else as well!
Rob

Hi djibutini.
I admire your efforts. I am a solitare player in middle Europe (and the only one to possess cards in middle Europe as far as I now ). Once I wanted to do the same thing as you - make another cards for specifically Premiere, but it was a very tiring process when you don't do this for a living 10 hours a day.
I watched your drive cards and couple of thoughts dropped into my mind: 1) cards WITHOUT frames but only with pictures and descriptions is a very interesting concept. The "Hicks" looks best in that format in my opinion. 2) Out of the three Hicks'es the one without frames looks best from the selling point (real badass) but from the sentimental point the one when he looks into the camera. 3) You are the ever first one on the internet to NOT give Vasquez ANY special powers!! Ha ha 4) The template for ALIENS is good - dark and climatic. For PREDATORS I think there is bit too much orange/red. And I mean a little bit too much. For MARINES I see where are you going but the actual-in-movie-camo may not be the best option. It's brown while "marines' colour" is green. Also the shoulder flag of that camo takes awya attention from the card itself (Apone's face next to it). 5) Overall very good... even great somebody still sits in it. I have a collection of 1000+ cards for it (which I will never sell - I am sometimes playing against myself), and "in my time" I wanted to create the Space Jockey deck (big giants not humanoid crap as in the new movie) and The Corporation. But problem was time, time, time. During years I aquired from Ebay an unique card one of a kind -
premiere edition "DODGE AND ROLL" with Bill Paxton's PVT Hudson on it - AND WITH BILL PAXTON'S autograph - which will never happen again as he passed away.
I am really glad that you folks still keep it alive. I also do that "solitarely" in my part of the world. Cheers.

Thanks nexusnode,
I was tempted to start adding extra abilities in... but I know these exist in other sets, so at first wanted to try and make the cards as close as they appear in Premiere (i.e. Vasquez being a reskinned version of Pvt Masters). I will adjust the background template for the human character and go with a simpler green design, I was thinking the backgrounds could be different for the sub-factions but the frames could be the same, but like you say its not very visually consistent so maybe a nice idea but it doesn't really work.
I will tone down the Predator template a little as well, I think overall its a balance between getting the nice 'used-future' look where things are a bit grimy so you don't want things too bright, but equally don't want them to be really dulled down.
I have added into the google drive a version of every human item (except a couple still to do).
The cards have been designed using the same template proportions used for other CCGs, so they incorporate a large bleed area (I suppose this is done in case people want to use MPC or similar). These can be cropped down to create custom files for printing at home or at a local printer, I will collate and update the drive with some print sheets as PDFs (as this is how I will use them anyway).
I will finish human items, redo marines, and then start locations (maybe will finish the set by 2024 haha)

Good point about 'used-future' grim look. As for the cards themselves, good job. A few things come to my mind: 1) Changing original CGI graphics pictures for actual stills from the move is something I personally always wanted to make. I always thought it should be from the beginning. 2) Camouflage and Compression suits are well chosen stills. 3) Chemical base always seem a problem for everyone. The original CGI was... not the best.. eh, and this one is good but it is still a CGI isn't it? If I recollect properly the chemical glass could be taken from "Aliens" scene of entering colony when Lt. Gorman drops something glass in the laboratory? 4) Combat knife is great. Where you took it from? 5) Rifles and smartgun are even better shots. 6) M240 Flamethrower is a badass 7) Makeshift weapon is HEAVENS BETTER. The original was CGI of... a police baton? This stil is a shot of ACTUAL MAKESHIFT weapon which is logical! Overall great job! I wish I could add my cards to that but I lost them (and found, and lost again over twenty times during years). The cards look "proper" (a compliment) like they belong to Premiere edition. And that's how it should be.

Hey nexusnode,
I tried to find some better images than the generated ones where I could, for a few it was possible to find some really nice hi-res renders or prop shots (the knife image is a Gerber Mk2, which I think was either the prop used in Aliens, or was very similar). Agree with the makeshift weapon, the original design was not that great. I will probably revisit these and make some better examples (the Chemical Base image is pretty generic, you are right there is probably a better still I can use). I know the movies pretty well so I quickly jump to the point where I think I might be able to get a good screen grab .
I have taken a bit of a swerve and started to fully compile a card spoiler list first, this will help in two ways:
1. I can just copy/paste text from the list to quickly generate the text on cards without having to re-write each time, and I will have more confidence that the text/description is accurate (I originally missed that the P-5000 Powerloader is now a Human Vehicle rather than an Item, and so card structure should be changed to reflect that).
2. This approach might make card image generation quicker through nanDECK (I have started playing with this a little and it looks quite interesting).
Once I have completed the list I will save to my Google drive as it might be a handy reference for people generally as well...

When I was creating cards for Premiere I also wrote them down first. I was using Windows 98 then. Now since 6-7 years I am a linux ubuntu user so I don't have a Windows Paint for example (for graphic work). My workflow was that I wrote 320ish cards in Windows notepad, made templates in Windows Paint (by scanning real cards and erasing text and pictures from them - copy empty space and paste method). Then I used GIMP for pasting pictures from Aliens Director's Cut DVD playback - screenshot method into the "main window" of each card (Paint couldn't do that when the card window was not straight-shaped).
I made around 50ish ready to print cards 1:1 size but it was a tiresome process and then I started to work a lot for monthly bills and spending time with family and you know, it doesn't help in creative process.
Method of writing in notepad is good because it clears your mind for future so that you don't forget good ideas and can add something later.
I wish you best of luck. Maybe I would find something in my basement from my old card examples but it will not be soon/easy.
Kind regards.

Hey folks,
I will use this list in nanDECK to batch create cards, so am now completing the trudge through of finding an image for all cards (about one tenth the way through the set at the moment...)
Were any of the original locations in Premiere redefined as cross-locations? I don't think I could see any instances of it in the revised descriptions but might have missed it.
I also need to make some more revisions to templates, the good thing about nanDECK is that you can update a template and then just recreate all the cards again (good if you want to tweak a template but don't want to have to remake the cards one by one).
I will make some pdf print sheets of the set, and will check here for scenario deck ideas as well so that I can make some pre-built decks to print off and play as an intro.

I am slowly working through grabbing stills for card images (mostly these are coming from 'Aliens' which is handy as I have seen it many times so can quickly skip to the scene I am looking for...)
I have also started rebuilding the frames in GIMP, but trying to match the feel/flavor of the Resurrection templates. I am using nanDECK to generate the cards so having already set up the errata file its easy to just rebuild the card using a different template, so I can keep on tweaking these and make a newer version if I want without having to spend a long time remaking them card by card.
and have shown an example of how these will look with old/new frames here. I also need to update my build to bring in the card type to put in the lower right, and fix up some of the text colors.
Once they are all done I will save as 9 cards to a page pdfs like i have with the Terminator Premiere set.
Probably many of you already have tonnes of Aliens Predator Premiere cards but I got rid of all mine, so for a while I have wanted to make a fully errata-ed set to print out and play with, and hopefully it will be useful to someone else as well... I will keep grabbing the images and perhaps I will be able to finish it over the holidays!

These are looking great. I think once these are done i'll print out and make the starter decks for the factions to give them a try.

Happy New Year folks,
I have got about 90% of the images I need to completely rebuild Premiere, so have just got to find the time to grab 30 or so more images... I have also made an updated version of almost all card frames from Premiere to use, but will produce the set in the classic resurrection frames as well in case people absolutely hate my new ones.
I have tried to consolidate all errata but it would be good if people can double check these in case I missed something, as there are still bits I am unsure about (especially card types; for example 'Human Main Character (Colonial Marine)' with someone like Bishop, he is a Marine faction card and has the resource, but is he also a 'Colonial Marine'...? And presumably should be Synthetic rather than Human?).
Generally this is intended to be as close to Premiere as possible, with errata and a few re-skinned cards (new name/pic typically for the Marines), and I will do a list with all of these changes.
Also looks like some of the cards have been errata-ed to hell and back so I might even need a new template design to accommodate all the text without the font getting too tiny, I have squished in the game text for the Powerloader as an example.
I will create all these in nanDECK and then proof everything as much as possible, but will appreciate feedback on typos or if there are suggestions for a better version of a picture for the card.
When everything is finalised I will load up some 3x3 printable versions in both the existing templates and the new templates I made. Playing with nanDECK has been a lot of fun but getting all the images has been a bit of a grind...

Happy New Year everyone. Hope everyone had a good and safe holiday.
I would be more than happy to look over everything once its all completed. As far as Bishop, if I'm not mistaken, in Resurrection, the errata states, all Marines and events for Marines from Premiere gain the Human resource text for purposes moving forward. That being said, looking at Call's card from Resurrection, it has Synthetic - Rogue... so I would say Bishop is fine as it is other than adding it's 'Drive Capacity' for it and 'Ash'. The errata for Resurrection also states their drive capacity; sorry I don't remember off-hand what it is.
The Marine resource moving forward from Premiere was class specific VS species specific. The Marine Resource became used for specific Events and Military Arms. I personally wouldn't worry about it. I would however def. use the new errata on cards such as 'Access Space', 'Hand Welder', 'Display of Skill', etc. as the later errata's fix problems with cards. I know you mentioned you made 'Power Loader' a vehicle so you're already there ;-)
