The 2022 set is Prey, based on the combination of the 2022 film and the original Aliens vs Predator comic, which has a novel adaption called AvP: Prey. It'll also have some cards pulling from the AvP: Duel comics too. First, a set of three variations (think of them as a rare, uncommon, and a common) of the new Feral Predator. Each variation does not have their to hit and speed reduced by damage. This is considered a "racial trait" of sorts for the Feral predator subspecies, in a similar way to how Super Predators can have 8 Power and Upgraded Predators can have 9 Power. Any future Feral subspecies Pred will have the same effect. The inability to use Casters is thematic for this set and NOT a racial feature of the subspecies. Feral itself features a new mechanic: Preps. Preps are associated with a new Prep zone. To "prep" a card is to put it into this zone. A "prepped" card is a card that is in this new zone. To "execute" a card is to remove it from the prep zone for an effect, usually discarding it. Cards in the prep zone are not considered to be in play, but can have a continuous effect on the game. This essentially allows for effects that are protected from board interaction and removal. They are often themed around preparing ahead of time for some situation. Mupitsl is based around the backstory of the Feral subspecies, which are stated to live in a more arid environment than the traditional predator.

I cannot wait! I know you mentioned AvP: Prey as well but will there be any chance the rest of the 'Aliens Fireteam Elite' and or Pathogen DLCs included in this set? Or sticking to the past scenario of Prey?

I'm considering some more Fireteam stuff. We'll see if the DLC inspires me.

You can't have Prey without a bear. If you run into it unprepared, you can always try to play dead. If you are at the Rocky Stream where he is typically found, you can also hide in a beaver dam. Rocky Stream is our first Temperate location, planting the seeds for a fourth location type. This is purely future-proofing, because as of Prey, Temperate will NOT be a supported Outdoor location subset, instead all Temperate locations will be double typed as Jungle or Wasteland locations. Temperate will be "enabled" in a future set when there are more available Temperate locations. As a new type of animal, we of course need the corresponding hybrid. Ursine Hybrid is specialized in environmental damage, both offensively and defensively, and as it stems from one of the toughest animals, its also quite the bruiser.

That bear hybrid is a nasty piece of work.

Well. . . I heard a new Predator movie was in the works, didn't know it was out. You made me get Hulu to watch it, and WORTH IT! Best Predator sequel ever.

Yeah. Prey is fantastic. Lets get some Human cards in the mix. Naru introduces a couple of minor new mechanics: Thrown attacks (which we'll get to later) and Indigenous. Indigenous is a sub-faction, and brings in the formal introduction of sub-faction rules. Sub-factions are simply sets of human characters available to certain main Factions. In this case, indigenous characters can be used by Rogue and Marine players. The Corporate faction's industrial interests do not align with this more naturalistic faction. This erratas the rules for Police characters as well into being a sub-faction. Police characters can be used by Marine and Corporate characters, but refuse to work with the criminal elements of the Rogue faction. Naru's Tomahawk has the Throwable resource. This is tied with the Thrown effect in its text box, which provides an alternate throwing attack for the weapon. When a Thrown attack is declared, the Item is rotated and after attack resolution it is dropped at the current location of the attack target. Thrown is formatted as Thrown: range, damage, extra effects. Any additional text that isn't part of a separate attack type applies to the Thrown attack - in the case of Tomahawk the +1 to hit if lethal applies to both the Close Combat and Short-Ranged attacks. It also has the new Primitive resource. Primitive items are so basic they are inherently immune to Malfunction cards. Naru also begins with Sarii, a very good dog that can play fetch with the new Thrown attacks. Sarii can also be found at the Native Village location, which can also accelerate finding Primitive items.

I have some concerns.
For the Bone Mask, making it intrinsic to the card that you can hit yourself seems. . . odd. I'd think it should be something that should require some setup and effort make the Predator target themselves. And it really only should work with the Bolt Gun, maybe the Smart Disc and derivatives. Despite what some AvP video games say, I don't believe plasma blasts are capable of turning in midair to follow their target. Whatever super tech is used for levitation and propulsion in the bolts and discs, though, could work. Though I don't recall smart discs ever using the laser targeter.
For the Greater Camouflage Suit. . . well, I think that a "wet" keyword has been missing from the game for quite some time, rather than have cards that represent water and individually affect camouflage suits, a keyword that represents water and interacts with them. Thus this one can just be unaffected by the wet keyword. (Actually my one gripe about the film. . . small details like that slip past and make it feel inconsistent with prior entries, but there's so much attention to detail everywhere else that I can't really fault it).

The mask is a case of simplification through abstraction and game balance, plus there is the the guy from The Predator that shoots himself in the head with a caster. Another persistent hit bonus is strong, and needs some sort of drawback.
The water situation is a little awkward in general. We have Submerged, but Premiere establishes non-Submerged water interactions with Water Processing. The solution would have been to implement Water as a resource, ideally in Resurrection, but at this point I consider the issue to be too far gone to change. Greater Camo's functionality with Water Puddles is specifically referencing that inconsistent nature of the camo suits and how Prey's suit can function in some water while Pred 2's can't.
I don't find the inconsistency in cloaks and water to be an issue. They can just be different forms of the cloaking tech. besides, I always saw the water puddle de-cloak in P2 as a bit silly.

Each time I think I made it out, someone comes and drags me back in.
These are fantastic !
Ive had the same idea on and off for years ( ever since I saw the MTG split cards) and wondering if I could make a small item set of cards that need 2 (or 3) cards to make 1 item...
Card a and card b make item C.
And not that I play it, but would the challenge cards from fireteam elite work in this?

I was never a big fan of things like BFG in card games. I'd be more inclined to make a multicard item through closely related attachments or ammo.
