Current Owners Of AP CCG and Battleground System
« Thread Started on Jun 28, 2007, 7:10am »

After what Galmorzu (ex-ZI Games member) said on the Future Plans page, I looked into this and discovered that the cards company Reality Simulations, Inc own the rights to the AliensPredator CCG game, and the Battleground system. This is what they had to say on terms of a re-release:

"As far as re-release goes, it's unlikely. The TCG market is much changed since that time, the licence hasexpired, Precedence is dead and everyone has disbursed. I unfortunately don't see it happening, at least as a real product. It's remotely possible it could be a virtual product if one of us got super-inspired, but even that's remote."

So basically, the only way it looks likely is if someone buys the rights off them, which means you would have to be, as Galmorzu said, filthy rich. I have updated the Future Plans and the FAQ pages accordingly.

Their official site; http://www.eternity.com/

It says coming soon. Was that a logo they used to use, or has somebody else just bought that website?

EDIT: http://web.archive.org/web/20060308023433/http://www.eternity.com/

Looks unlikely, they closed down a couple of years ago, so sad.

Interesting. I've done a bit of research, and the current owners of the AliensPredator CCG game and the Battleground system are this company; http://www.reality.com/

did they do anything with it? it doesn't really look like the kind of gaming company that would be involved with CCGs, its weird play-by-mail stuff.

I don't see why someone just doesn't make a totally new AvP CCG. Screw the battleground system. Make a totally new game engine.

Because the battleground system is what made it so great.

But you'll never see the return. There are plenty of other cool game engines out there that people could make an AVP CCG for.

Well, with the 2nd avp movie, fox is pushing merchandising more than with the previous one, maybe we'll see something. but i really, truely, doubt it would be better than the old one. But avp gaming isn't dead, wizkids made AVP miniatures for the horrorclix game. (I got all of 'rm too :) )

Exactly. I haven't heard of any systems that even sound similar.

I always thought of AvP CCG as a more of a collectable board game than a card game..

That quote said the license expired. Doesn't that mean the rights would have to be brought back off Fox?

I referred to it as an rpg-ccg myself. 8-)

and yeah, if the license expired, it would have to be bought back from Fox, which means even MORE $$$.

if fox has the right though, that makes a new product of some sort far more likely. they are cashing in on spin-off products a lot more with this movie than the last one, and just look at the PSP game, they have been dictating to companies to keep stuff under wraps for big reveals.
